Understanding Male Sexual Health: The Importance of Erection Hardness
Many individuals have raised questions regarding male sexual capability, particularly focusing on the aspects of penis size and hardness. While some might presume that size is a critical factor in sexual satisfaction, research suggests that the hardness of an erection is far more significant. To delve deeper into this often-sensitive subject, we consulted Professor Jiang Hui, the Deputy Director of Urology at the Third Military Medical University and Head of the Andrology Diagnosis and Treatment Center.
Debunking Size Myths
Surprisingly, studies indicate that the average erect penis size for Chinese men is approximately 13.4 centimeters, which comfortably exceeds the requirements necessary for female sexual satisfaction. Therefore, it is unnecessary for men to worry excessively about the length of their penis during sexual activities.
Calculating Normal Penis Size
The International Male Health Organization (MTD) has established a formula based on almost three decades of research to determine whether a penis size is considered normal:
Normal Penis Length (M) = (Height (T) - 105) * 0.618 / 3.14 (cm)
Normal Penis Diameter (D) = M / 3.14 (cm)
(Note: For Western populations, the adjustment factor is calculated as: Centimeters = Asian Size / 1.414 / 0.618)
The Primacy of Erection Hardness
When analyzing the components essential for a satisfying sexual experience, erection hardness emerges as the top priority. Factors identified include:
- Erection Hardness (50%)
- Duration of Erection (30%)
Research emphasizes that hardness is fundamental to male sexual performance. A lack of sufficient hardness may primarily stem from vascular issues—specifically, inadequate blood flow to the penis. Insufficient blood flow can be attributed to endothelial cell issues, muscular problems within the blood vessels, or nerve function impairments. Notably, issues with erection hardness fall under the category of erectile dysfunction.
Understanding Erection Levels
To further clarify, the following four levels categorize the severity of erectile dysfunction:
- Level 1: The penis shows some engorgement but fails to achieve an erection sufficient for penetration.
- Level 2: There is a slight erection present, yet penetration is still unsuccessful.
- Level 3: Erection is possible, but firmness is lacking, often described as "soft" or prone to losing hardness mid-intercourse.
- Level 4: A complete and firm erection is achieved and can be maintained, enabling successful penetration.
In summary, focusing on erection hardness rather than size can lead to more fulfilling sexual experiences. Understanding these factors can not only alleviate the pressure many men feel regarding their performance but can also encourage healthier discussions around male sexual health.
